The Strand (www.thestrand.org)
It's true.... one of the beauties of Calvary Chapel is the diversity we see within the people who attend, and this can also be said of our youth ministry. Beyond the diversity in the color of our skin, I think it's safe to say we are equally diverse in our cultures and stylistic tastes. It never ceases to amaze me, but in one group of high schoolers you'll find such an interesting and unique collage of people. At The Strand on one Sunday night you'll find preps, nerds, jocks, rockers, goths, hipsters and yes even rednecks! You'll find kids who like rap - those who like metal - those who like rock - one guy who really likes the piano - a few who like country to all area's in between. You have kids who go to Brookwood, Parkview, South, Shiloh, LCA, Covenant, Grayson and all area’s in between. And even though it might appear (at least on the surface) that there is much to divide us, the person of Jesus Christ and the reality that we are all saved by grace is plenty to unite! You might say in a world where there is so much to divide, Jesus truly is The Strand that brings us all together.
